James Elementary is located at 5810 Scarritt in the Northeast area. James Elementary School is over a century old and is deeply rooted in tradition. Many former James students still reside in Kansas City and often, when former students come to town to visit, they stop by the school. James School is focused on high academic achievement and outfitted with the latest 21st century technological classroom tools to bring interactive lessons to life. James has over 15 active partnerships with local civic business, and agencies. It is the school's mission to get our students on the road to a successful and productive life. To that end, every child will visit a college in the 2011-2012 school year as they aim high towards attending college in their future.

 
Principal's Biography
 
Dr. Jo Lynne Nemeth
Dr. Jo Nemeth has worked in the KCPS for 25 years. Dr.Nemeth has worked in the role of elementary teacher and elementary principal# Her professional education degrees include Bachelor and Master Degree in Elementary Education from Kansas Sate University. Dr. Nemeth earned an Educational Doctorate from the University of Kansas.

School success is not an option, it is a reality at James School# James made AYP in 2011 in Communication Arts and Math. James has a strong Leadership Team and collaboration with staff charting the course as a team is the secret of the school's success.

Dr. Nemeth is passionate about meeting student needs at the social, emotional, physical and academic domains.
Dr. Nemeth believes in being a full service principal. This involves researching grant opportunities to fund a comprehensive health clinic for students at school.

Dr. Nemeth makes sure school community partnerships are plentiful at James. Presently, community organizations support health initiatives, paint classrooms and raise the self esteem and safety. Partnerships include the City of Kansas City, Missouri, Mattie Rhodes Community Center, Northeast HELP Center, Score 1 for Health, Dental Smiles, Flash 2012, Blue Valley Kiwanis, Harvesters, KCPD East Patrol, Kansas City Regional Police Academy and LINC just to na#e a few. Community partnerships are essential to the success at James.

Dr. Nemeth believes in starting early to prepare students for the future# In 2011 James rolled out the "On the Road to College" initiative. Every class will visit a college to teach students the importance of post-secondary education and that is never to early to prepare for success in life.
Dr. Nemeth has worked hard to assure that James School has 21st Century Technology for teachers to reach out and engage students in learning. Each classroom has been outfitted with the latest technology such as LCD Projectors, Eno Boards, Surround Sound, MOBI Tablets, document,digital and flip cameras.
