KCPS Headlines

  • KCPS School Board Approves Master Plan

KCPS is contacting parents individually to address how these changes will impact their children and to share plans to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible. Interim Superintendent Al Tunis and his team have already been hard at work developing plans to make this a positive experience for every student, parent and guardian, staff member and administrator. Parents and guardians can visit to check which school their children will attend under the Master Plan based on their current addresses. Parents and guardians can also contact the KCPS Master Plan Hotline by calling 816-418-8825 (open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Feb. 26; and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Feb. 29-March 4) or emailing

  • Hall Pass: Accommodating visitors while keeping students safe

Safety and security are top priorities in Kansas City Public Schools. We respect the trust that families place in us with their children, and we are always looking for innovative ways to make our schools safer and more secure. With that in mind, we’re unveiling a new visitor management system for the 2015-2016 school year: Hall Pass.

  • Parents' Right to Know

Kansas City Public Schools receive federal funds for Title I. As a parent of a student in a Title I school, and in accordance with the ESEA Section 1111(h) (6) PARENTS RIGHT-TO-KNOW, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom teachers, and requires the school to give you this information in a timely manner.
