LINC

LINC has partnered with Kansas City Public Schools since 1992, providing high quality before and after school care for students in a safe, fun and caring environment that supports children's social, emotional and physical development. The program encourages children’s growth through recreational and academic activities including snacks and homework help.

21st Century Learning Center Program

The 21st Century Learning Center Program (CCLC) is an Academic Enrichment Tutorial Before and After School Program. CCLC is based in four elementary schools:
  • Whittier
  • Melcher
  • Trailwoods
  • Faxon
The purpose of 21st Century Community Learning Centers is to bridge families, schools, and communities. CCLC achieves this by:
  • Providing opportunities for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low-performing schools, to meet state and local student performance standards in core academic subjects, such as reading, science and math.

  • Offering students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities, such as youth development activities, counseling programs, art, music, and recreation programs, technology education, and character education programs, that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students.

  • Offering families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for literacy and related educational development.
The 21st Century Learning Center Program (CCLC) was established by Congress as part of the Elementary and Secondary Act. 21st CCLC is a key component of the No Child Left Behind Act. Under Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the 21st Century Community Learning Centers are defined as centers which offer academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment opportunities to students and their families when school is not in session. These programs provide a broad array of additional services that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program.
