Bio
Darrel W. Meyer joined the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) as Executive Director of Operations in July 2012.
Meyer worked for 10 years in the private sector in the areas of construction field supervision and later construction management. Meyer started his career in facility management in 1990 when he was hired as facility services superintendent at Metropolitan Community College-Longview, a position he held for eight years. He was promoted to director of facility services for the Metropolitan Community College in 1998.Meyer graduated from the APPA Institute of Facility Management and has served at the state, regional and international levels in this organization. Meyer is the APPA past president, and has represented APPA and MCC nationally and internationally by presenting at numerous conferences and events during his three years of leadership with APPA International.
Meyer holds a Bachelor of Construction Science degree from Kansas State University and a Master of Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Operations
The Operations Department of Kansas City Public Schools is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe environment in the schools and other buildings occupied by KCPS students and staff.
Facilities
The Facilities Department of Kansas City Public Schools is responsible for repair and maintenance of all district facilities.
Transportation
The Transportation Department of Kansas City Public Schools is responsible for providing safe, timely and efficient transportation of all eligible KCMSD students that attend public schools.
