The City of KCMO Civil Rights Division is hosting its sixth annual Civil Rights Summit on Friday, April 25, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, 2345 McGee St. The summit will feature national and local speakers, as well as workshops on specific topics. The "Youth...Know Your Rights!" panel discussion workshop will allow the audience and panel members to pose questions, address concerns and engage in discussion concerning youth and their civil rights. The UMKC Men’s Soccer team is hosting a soccer clinic on May 3 for anyone interested age 14 and under. All proceeds from the clinic will benefit Bags of Fun KC, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to make a difference in the lives of children who are fighting cancer and other long term illnesses. Registration is only $15.00/child and includes the clinic, lunch, meet and greet and game. The first 200 registrants receive a FREE string bag and water bottle. Paseo P.E.A.R.L.S presents Closer to My Dreams, a girls' empowerment conference on Saturday, May 10, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Paseo Academy. The conference will include a panel discussion, workshops, and motivational speakers. Pre-registration is suggested, but not required, by emailing email@example.com. Lunch will be provided.
