Coaching Rationale

KCPS believes that…

·  Coaches, when employed and supported effectively, positively affect school culture, support significant change, and promote reflection and decision making, culminating in increased student achievement.

·  KCPS teachers need support in the areas of literacy, math, science, and social studies in order to increase the percentage of students performing on grade level.

·   Teacher implementation of KCPS initiatives, intervention strategies, and effective use of student data after attending professional development increases when followed up with individualized coaching support.

·   Coaches provide instructional leadership for teachers through sustained, targeted supports to build content knowledge, improve practice, and promote student achievement.
