We provide support of the voice and data network that connects all KCPS buildings via underground fiber and leased digital T1 circuits. The group maintains building wiring, network switching gear, telephone systems, voicemail, IP Telephony, UPS’s, local and long distance circuits, e911 circuits, wireless access points, and all associated hardware. All telephone moves, adds and changes, auto attendant, cell phones, modems for alarms, and public utilities are also supported.
Staff
Steve Harry
Steve graduated from a Communications Technology program in 1980. He has worked for Continental Telephone, US West, Siemens/ROLM and IBM. He has installed or serviced business phone systems from two to 10,000 telephones. He’s trained in digital electronics, various WAN technologies including frame relay, ATM, and TDMoIP. Steve helped install the current telephone system and data network and was the onsite tech for seven years with Siemens/ROLM. He’s been a KCPS employee since 2003.
Greg Wright
Greg is a graduate of Lincoln High School of KCPS. He has been an employee of KCPS since 1980 and a member of the school district's ITS staff since 1990. Greg has worked with the network since its inception, when there was only one computer per school and four per high school using 4800 Baud Modems for communications. Greg currently works as the Senior Wide Area Network Engineer, maintaining the district network infrastructure. His duties also include installing, configuring and maintaining the district's wireless infrastructure, as well as installing and maintaining the district's Distance Learning devices.
Dan Holwick
Dan started in the communications field in 1977 with Western Electric. He started his employment with Siemens/ROLM in 1982 as an installer and installed the current phone system for KCPS. He currently owns his own company and provides daily service to KCPS as a temporary employee. Dan provides most of the software MAC on telephones and voicemail.
Robert (Robin) Dyer
Robin also is a temporary employee. He has many years experience as a lineman, working on installing, repairing, and splicing copper and fiber cables. Robin has installed and serviced business telephone systems and is the one you’re likely to see day to day in the field. He performs most of the patching, telephone MAC and wiring repair.
