Before and After School

The Local Investment Commission (LINC) and The Upper Room provide before and after school services to elementary students in the Kansas City Public Schools. We encourage parents to explore both options and select the one that is the best fit for the student and family.

LINC
LINC has partnered with Kansas City Public Schools since 1992, providing high quality before and after school care for elementary school students in a safe, fun and caring environment that supports children's social, emotional and physical development. The program encourages children’s growth through recreational and academic activities including snacks and homework help.

The Upper Room

The Upper Room has partnered with the Kansas City Public Schools since 2012 to provide high-quality out-of-school education to elementary school students. The primary goal of the after school program is to help children improve their reading ability to at or above grade level. Certified classroom teachers use the Accelerated Reader program to deliver literacy instruction; volunteers and youth counselors provide individualized tutoring instruction. In addition to academic instruction, students participate in art, music and dance lessons, and a variety of recreational activities.
