The goal of the Parent University is to enhance parent knowledge and skills by providing educational services that parents can use to prepare their students for successful school transitions, promote student academic success as measured by pre- and post-skills assessments, enrollment, and through documented collaborative efforts among schools, School Advisory Councils, the District Advisory Committee (DAC), and Parent University.
The Parent University also collaborates with all KCPS departments and outside community resources to provide parent trainings in the following areas:
- Curriculum Skills
- Job Readiness Skills
- Awareness of College and Post-Secondary education opportunities
- Volunteer opportunities
- Life skills classes such as budgeting, nutrition, and conflict resolution.
Parent University is open daily and classes/workshops will be on-going throughout the year.
