    Community Partnerships

Our school believes that it is the job of the entire community to educate and meet the needs of children.  We have several partnerships with community organizations, such as the Mattie Rhodes, KC Hispanic News, Score One for Health, Ruiz Public Library, Tony Aguirre Community Center, KC Lead to Read, William Jewel College and The Literacy Lab. These partners offer students valuable relationships with caring adults and other opportunities that the school would not be able to provide without their support.   garcia

    Community Learning

It is the belief of Primitivo Garcia Elementary School that we are a community of learners.  School is a safe place where everyone comes together to promote learning.  Teachers work together as a team and serve as instructional and life mentors to our students.  Families are essential partners in this relationship and this relationship is strengthened through active participation.

    Berfore-and After-School Care

We partner with LINC to provide free high-quality before-and after-school care for elementary school age students in a safe, fun and caring environment that supports children’s social, emotional and physical development.

    Youth Friends

Primitivo Garcia Elementary has over 30 partners/Youth Friends. They assist our students with their math and reading efforts, as well as social / emotional needs. They come to us from KC businesses (KC Star Newspaper, KCP&L) and churches (Jacobs Well Church, Grace & Holy Trinity Church). Their assistance occurs on an individual basis, with small groups of students, or in the classroom setting. We appreciate our volunteers greatly, as our students benefit academically, behaviorally, and socially.

Garcia is currently partnering with Park College and The University of Missouri to provide student teachers in our building to assist with our students in their daily learning.  We currently have 12 Park College students working with first grade through sixth grade, and three MU students working with Kindergarten through sixth grade
