Specific Language Impairment Program
The Specific Language Impaired (SLI) program (formerly known as Delayed Language) is an alternative educational placement for children whose language acquisition and usage is significantly discrepant from the level expected for their age and cognitive ability. Cognitive scores must be well into the average range (above 90) for students to be considered for the program. The program is designed to focus on language development, utilizing multiple techniques and materials to also progress through academic coursework. After receiving rigorous stimulation in language, reading, mathematics and social skills, most students progress into regular education placement by 4th grade with some level of SLI resource support.
