    Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) is accepting applications for new students for the 2017-2018 school year.

    New students include next year’s:

    • Pre-K Students
    • Kindergarten Students
    • Students applying to a KCPS Signature Schools
    • Students transferring from a non-KCPS School

    Enrollment applications are available to the right for download and printing at your convenience. Applications are also available at each school.

    (Please note the list of required documents below to enroll within KCPS.)

    APPLICATION SUBMISSION

    Signature School applications MUST be submitted directly to the Signature school of choice. 

    Neighborhood School Applications will be accepted at the Admissions Office at 2901 Troost, Kansas City, MO 64109, as well as by mail and fax.

    For questions specific to your school of choice, please contact that school’s office.

    Enrollment Checklist

    If your student is currently enrolled in a Kansas City Public School, he/she will not need to complete the enrollment process again. However, each spring, returning students must register for the following school year and verify their residency at that time.

    If at any time during the school year your address has changed, you will need to provide a new proof of residency to the Admissions office.

    Required documents to enroll in Kindergarten – 12th Grade:

    1. Enrollment application
    2. Student's current immunization record
    3. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
    4. Two proofs of residency (See “Acceptable Proofs of Residency” list below)
      • One from column "A" AND one from column "B"

    Documents to in enroll for Pre-Kindergarten (Head Start & Early Learning):

    1. Enrollment application
    2. Student's verification of birth (Birth Certificate)
    3. Student's current immunization record
    4. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
    5. Two proofs of residency.
    6. Proof of income:
    • Two current pay stubs
    • Current TANF award letter
    • Current SSI verification
    • Unemployment letter
    • Current 1040A tax form with W-2's, (employer letter on company letterhead, notarized letter from employer)
    • Child support letter
    1. Child's insurance/Medicaid card (if available)

    ACCEPTABLE PROOFS OF RESIDENCY

    (one from each column)

    COLUMN “A”

    • Valid Property Deed
    • Current Real Estate Tax Receipt
    • Mortgage Statement
    • Signed Residential Lease Agreement

    COLUMN “B”

    • Current utility bill: electric, water or gas. Disconnect or shutoff notices will not be accepted. Bills must be within the last 30 days
    • Either 2016 or 2015 Personal Property Tax Receipt
    • 2016 Homeowner’s/Rental Insurance Policy
    • Social Services, Social Security Statement, or Other Legal/Court Documents
