We are a neighborhood school in KCPS with strong parent and community support. Born out of the desire to revitalize a historic building and offer quality education in the heart of the Waldo neighborhood. Harold L. Holliday, Sr. Montessori is one of the two public signature Montessori schools in KC. Parents and community members are woven into Holliday’s fabric, they are essential to our success. With the help of our parents and community partners, our staff and students worked on their very own Farmer’s Market. Volunteers constructed and installed 18 garden beds on-site, allowing students to pick their 1st harvest this past spring. We also partnered with Heartland Chamber of Music to offer string lessons to four-year-olds and the KC Ballet to offer dance lessons to 3rd-grade students free of charge. Piano lessons also are offered to our students. At Holliday, the Montessori philosophy allows our teachers to promote hands-on learning through exploration and discovery. Students are given the keys to the world!

Our goal is to prepare every student with the necessary skill set to make them successful adults in the 21st century. The Specific Language Impaired (SLI) program is an alternative educational placement for children whose language acquisition and usage are significantly discrepant from the level expected for their age and cognitive ability. The program is designed to focus on language development, using techniques and materials to also help them progress through academic coursework.
