Lee Allen, Vice Principal
As a product of the Kansas City Public School District, Lee is going into his 18th year in education, 17th with KCPS. After graduating from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy High School, Lee went on to earn a B.S. in Engineering Technology from Virginia State University (2000) and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and an Education Specialist in Administration from the University of Missouri - Kansas City (2004 & 2014). He is currently working towards completion of his Doctorate of Education from the University of Kansas (Dec. 2018).
After spending 12 years in the classroom, this will be Mr. Allen's 5th year in administration, and 2nd year at East High School.
Shelia Dannar, Vice Principal
Sheila Dannar has completed an Educational Specialist degree at UMKC and is beginning her 23rd year as an educator in KCPS. She initially attended the University of Missouri – Columbia and obtained an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. She began teaching Spanish at Bingham Middle School in KCPS and later taught 4th grade at East Elementary School. After completing a Masters in Urban Leadership and Policy Studies at UMKC, Ms. Dannar began as an administrator in KCPS and has served in both elementary and middle schools prior to coming to East High School for the 2018-19 school year.
Bryan VanOsdale, Vice Principal
I am in my 20th year in education. I obtained a BS in Secondary Ed- Social Sciences and Business Administration, MS in Educational Psychology and Counseling, MA in Gender and Racial Studies, and my Ed.S in Educational Administration and Leadership. I am from East Tennessee and lived in Kansas City for 15 years. I am in my 6th year in KCPS. I spent 4 years at Whittier Elementary. Prior to coming to KCPS I was a social studies teacher in the secondary school at Derrick Thomas Academy. I will be in starting my second year at East. I take great pride in our global diversity at East High School. Go Bears!!!
Ben Richardson, Vice Principal
Ben Richardson has been a staff member at East High School since 2012, first as a teacher and coach and now as an administrator. Mr. Richardson has a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and History from Milligan College, and he has a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Kansas. Mr. Richardson is a proud member of the East Bear community and loves sharing in the successes of the students and school.
Bryan Hart, Vice Principal
Bryan Hart is currently a KC-PLUS resident training to earn his Masters in Educational Leadership while serving at East High School. Bryan came into education in 2011 through Teach for America and served at James Elementary in KCPS. Since then Bryan has worked to refine his teaching skills and started looking at leadership opportunities, believing that effective schools have leaders that work to develop their teachers' skills. Bryan is passionate about urban education and one day closing the achievement gap: making sure that every student has access to an amazing education.
