    What: District-wide Oratory Contest

    Competition Prompt: The “Sankofa” is a metaphorical symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana, generally depicted as a bird with its head turned backward taking an egg from its back. It expresses the importance of reaching back to knowledge gained in the past and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress. What poem, song or speech inspires you to reflect on Black history and helps to provide direction for your successful future?

    Purpose: In celebration of Black History Month

    Who: All interested student

    When: All submissions due by 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2020.

    Finalists will perform and winners will be announced at the district Board Meeting, Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

    Four prizes will be awarded:

    Kindergarten – Third Grade Winner ($100 gift card)

    Fourth - Sixth Grade Winner ($100 gift card)

    Seventh Grade – Eighth Grade Winner ($100 gift card)

    Ninth Grade – Twelfth Grade Winner ($100 gift card)
