KCPS orchestra students perform at the KCPS Fine Arts Showcase on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

"In schools, children need to have a place of belonging. They need to know they're accepted. They have to find their niche, that thing they’re good at,” said KCPS Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Collier.

At the Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Board of Education meeting, three KCPS employees were recognized as “Terrific Teammates” for their contributions to their school communities.

Current KCPS students will automatically “roll up” to the next grade, and no action is required from parents/guardians at this time. Please do not submit an application for new enrollment, as this will cause processing delays.

With guidance from our trusted community health partners, the Kansas City Public Schools Board of Directors and administration agreed on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, to end our mask mandate, effective immediately.

Blueprint 2030

Community Chats - Blueprint 2030 Scenario Engagement

The next phase of our Blueprint 2030 process includes bringing together scenarios for the future of KCPS schools and programs. From the academic vision to the programs in our schools, we will be discussing how our schools are configured and modeled for the future. And we need your help!

During these community chats, we will seek your feedback on the proposed scenarios for KCPS. We will show potential scenarios and you will get to provide your thoughts. From there, we'll be refining our scenarios based on your feedback. These are big conversations for KCPS - please join us so we can hear what you have to say. Let's continue building the future together.

Meals and childcare will be provided.

About

KCPS is embarking upon an engagement process that will capture how we approach the future of schools in our school district and community. This process of engaging our school district and community will be an opportunity to gather voices and participate in conversations that are important to the future of our schools. What an opportunity to help shape and refine our plans for the future - an opportunity in which we invite all of our schools and community stakeholders to participate. Blueprint 2030 will define how KCPS should serve students in the future and the system-level changes we need to take to get there.  It will serve as an update to the KCPS 2018-23 Strategic Plan and guide of our work over the next decade by outlining five and ten year goals.

KCPS wants to ensure all children living within the school district boundaries have access to a quality Pre-K through 12 educational experience and graduate ready for college, career and life. KCPS has been making great strides in academic achievement and providing engaging academic programing, but we know that additional progress is needed to better serve all our students.

Blueprint 2030 is a year-long planning and community engagement effort that will define how KCPS should serve students in the future and the system-level changes we need to take to get there. It is a blueprint for the future that maximizes KCPS resources, improves efficiencies, and enhances the educational experience and academic outcomes for all students.

During Blueprint 2030, KCPS will work with our staff, parents, students and the KC community to:

  • Conduct an assessment and evaluation of our current school system (where are we now?)
  • Establish goals for the future (where do we want to be?)
  • Evaluate scenarios (what options do we have for getting us from where we are now to where we want to be?)
  • Identify recommendations for action (how do we get there?)

Community feedback is critical to the success of Blueprint 2030.
