About Jamekia Kendrix

Jamekia Kendrix is a passionate education advocate who believes that in order for a school community to thrive the people building and sustaining that community must have a voice. Over the last 25 years, Mrs. Kendrix has worked with students and their families as an educator, social worker, non-profit program developer and evaluator, volunteer parent and community organizer, and education activist bringing parents and students together with school staff, community members and organizations to identify and address their needs.

Jamekia’s education includes a B.A. (Psychology) from the University of Missouri- Columbia, a Masters (Social Work) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and an Ed.S. (K-12 Educational Leadership). She has also earned Missouri Principal and Superintendent certifications.  Mrs. Kendrix currently serves as a Trustee and Policy Committee Chair for the Kansas City Public Schools Retirement System.

Mrs. Kendrix and her husband have been residents of Kansas City Public Schools Sub-district II for more than 15 years. They are the proud parents of Josiah, a Central High School Alum and Senior at Missouri S & T, and Amiyah an Allen Village Charter School Alum planning to attend Columbia College- Chicago in the fall.

As a member of the Kansas City Public Schools Board of Directors, Jamekia is committed to working with the school communities she represents to amplify the voices of community members, families and educators to improve the educational outcomes and experiences for all of our students.
