IL Sports Report: Week of November 8, 2021
BLUE TIGERS ROAR INTO DISTRICT FINALS
The Lincoln Blue Tigers football team defeated the Harrisonville Wildcats 41-14 on Friday, November 5 to advance to the Class 4, District 7 Championship game. The Blue Tigers used a speedy rushing attack and big-play passing game as they hurried out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Leading the way for the Blue Tigers was sophomore running back John Price, who ran for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 12 carries. Senior running back Jayden Sudduth added 64 yards rushing and a touchdown, as well as a 55-yard touchdown reception on a screen pass from junior quarterback Zack Shelby, who accounted for 3 total touchdowns with 160 yards passing and 60 yards on the ground. Lincoln Prep used a swarming defense, led by a stout defensive line and hard-hitting linebackers, to hold the Wildcats to 14 points, as the Blue Tigers are allowing only 11.4 points per game. Lincoln Prep (10-0) plays host to Nevada in the district championship game as they try to keep their undefeated season rolling.

LINCOLN PREP CROSS COUNTRY SHOWS OUT
Congratulations to the Lincoln Prep Blue Tigers boys cross country team, as they finished 13th at State Cross Country while averaging a 17:19 5K. According to Lincoln Prep Head Coach Marina Lopez, the Blue Tigers did not have one runner with that time just 5 years ago. The boys were led by sophomore Isaac Rivera, who finished with a time of 16:15. Seniors Elliot Abnos (17:08), Manuel Reyes (17:42), Kale Wolf (17:44), Jonas Clark (19:38), and sophomores Coleman Keck (17:47) and Truman Medina (18:31) rounded out the team.
Also running at state for Lincoln Prep on the girls side was senior Estrella Hernandez, who finished with a time of 21:56, recording a Personal Record in her final high school race.
