KCPS dancers shine in major competitions

Multiple KCPS schools' dance teams recently took home some heavy hardware in competitions locally and regionally.

Congratulations to Paseo Academy of Fine & Performing Arts, whose dance team competed this past weekend at the Fort Zumalt North Dance Team Invitational in St. Louis. The Pirates dominated in all four Small-Class Division categories, where they took 1st place in Game Day, 2nd place in Lyrical, 3rd place in Hip Hop and finished 5th in Pom.

The Paseo Dance Team is under the direction of Head Coach Lauren Thompson and Assistant Coach Travis Cal.

We also had three schools take part in the KC Classic Dance Team Invitational in Lee's Summit, where Southeast High School, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy and Lincoln Middle School had impressive showings. The three schools took home several trophies and finished top 5 in several of the competitions, which included Varsity Lyrical, Prop Exhibition, Hip Hop, Junior Varsity/Middle School Competition, and the Judge's Choice for Most Sportsmanship!

Great job to our dancers and coaches! We have some major talent at KCPS!
