With cold and flu season upon us, KCPS has many resources for keeping your family healthy this fall. Remember, if your child is ill, please do not send them to school.

Language Services & Cultural Equity

The Department of Language Services & Cultural Equity provides leadership, resources and opportunities for linguistically and culturally diverse English Learners (ELs) and their families.  Our Department operationalizes the KCPS Strategic Plan and the KCPS Board Equity Policy through the programs and services provided by the two department offices: the Office of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and the Office of Newcomer Family and Community Engagement and Support.

Vision

The Department of Language Services & Cultural Equity prepares global citizens and expands opportunities for all KCPS students to become bilingual and biliterate.

Additionally, the Department:

  • Develops student leaders through culturally and linguistically responsive instruction paired with culturally relevant family and community engagement.
  • Provides all English Language Learners with a high quality, academic education that prepares them to be lifelong learners.
  • Fosters multilingual communication and collaboration between staff, students, and families within the KCPS system and community.
