KCPS sold the Longan School to Academie Lafayette on March 23, 2012 for use as its K-3 school. The school opened in Fall 2012. In Fall 2018, the school transitioned to a K-5 campus. The building is now known as Academie Lafayette, Cherry Street Campus.
