KCPS is currently accepting proposals for the Askew, Meservey and Pershing sites. The proposal deadline is December 1, 2023. Tours were held on October 17. Meservey was previously under contract with Yarco-Devco, LLC (Yarco) from March-November 2018. The sale was contingent upon Yarco receiving a Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) allocation, but MHDC did not award LIHTC to the project during the Fall 2018 round. Additional details of the project can be found below.
2018 Yarco project proposal: Phase I: Historic redevelopment of the school building into 44 affordable rental units for seniors 62 years and older. Phase II: New construction residential on the site. A provision of the sales contract was that Yarco must obtain written support from the Vineyard Neighborhood Association for any proposed infill development to ensure community concerns regarding the rental vs ownership mix can be addressed. Yarco presented its reuse proposal to the community at the Vineyard Neighborhood Association meeting on February 27, 2018. A copy of the preliminary site plan can be found here.
