West Port High Building

The current agreement between KCPS and Sustainable Development Partners (SDP) does not allow for any development on the existing track/field other than parking, open space and/or recreational space without written consent from the KCPS Board. SDP has requested the use restriction be revised to allow for residential/educational development. The current agreement also calls for the historic reuse of the existing school building. SDP has requested this be revised to historic use of the original building (which would allow for demolition of the addition(s)). On January 14, 2019, Sustainable Development Partners (SDP) presented a revised proposal for the reuse of the Westport High site. KCPS is soliciting feedback from the community regarding the requested changes. The feedback form can be found here.

Proposal presentation from January 14, 2019.

ARCHIVE: KCPS sold Westport High to Sustainable Development Partners Kansas City (SDPKC) on August 12, 2016 for reuse as a mixed-use redevelopment. Together with Westport Middle, the project is known as Westport Commons. Construction on the site has not yet begun.
