Westport Middle Building

KCPS sold Westport Middle School to Sustainable Development Partners Kansas City (SDPKC) on January 27, 2014 for reuse as a mixed-use historic redevelopment. The site, now known as Plexpod Westport at Park 39, is a coworking and office space community with event spaces, conference rooms, offices, open desks, and workstations, with 24/7 facility access. Tenants began occupying the building in Spring 2017. Cultivate KC operates an urban farm on the site under a long-term lease.

In 2023, The City of Kansas City approved an amendment to the MPD Plan to allow for the development of two multi-family residential buildings (up to 100 units) on the portion of the site that currently serves as an urban farm.  Plan details can be found: CD-CPC-2022-00222 (kcmo.org)
