English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The Office of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is responsible for providing instructional leadership and resources to support linguistically and culturally diverse English Learners (ELs). English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instruction is provided to identified students who speak a primary language other than English. The method of instruction depends on the students’ English proficiency and grade level. In five of our schools, we operate classrooms for Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE).
Additionally, the Office of English for Speakers of Other Languages Provides:
- Professional development support at the classroom, grade-level, school and district level regarding best practices for language acquisition and content comprehension
- Inter-departmental collaboration to ensure inclusion and expand equitable opportunities for multilingual students and families
