About Holliday Montessori School
Harold L. Holliday, Sr. Montessori School serves students from 3 years – 6th grade in the Kansas City Public Schools. We are located at 7227 Jackson, Kansas City, Missouri, 64132.
Holliday Montessori School is surrounded by the rolling hills and dense woods of Swope Park, the “crown jewel” of the Kansas City park system, and one of the largest urban parks in the country. The school itself was built specifically to Montessori standards, opening its doors in 1992 as the second Montessori magnet school in the Kansas City Public Schools.
Holliday has a unique building design with four wings designated by colors. Each wing features a courtyard filled with interesting things to discover and explore – native flowers, fruit trees, and the occasional statue. Students can be seen throughout the year assisting with routine maintenance of the plants and flowers in these beautiful gardens.
Holliday also enjoys a close relationship with neighboring Lakeside Nature Center. A system of trails in the forest behind Holliday connects with Swope Park’s Fox Hollow Trail; classes are frequently seen on afternoon nature walks here.
The spirit of community at Holliday wouldn’t be complete without a network of involved parents. Holliday is one of two KCPS schools with an active PTA unit. The PTA focuses on community-building activities at Holliday, making sure there is a level of cooperation between parents, teachers and students. The SAC (School Advisory Committee) is a site-governance organization, providing input to the principal on educational endeavors and financial guidance. Click on the links at the top of the page to learn more about these individual organizations. Also contributing to the family environment at Holliday is local KCPS partner LINC. LINC provides before and after school care to Holliday students, along with numerous extra-curricular activities.Contact Information(816) 418 - 1950
