About Our School
The mission of Border Star Montessori School is to prepare the learner for life in a diverse educational and social environment. Each child will be encouraged to become a self-motivated learner and develop qualities of order, concentration, and independence.
We are a fully-accredited Montessori pre-K through 6th grade Signature school, comprised of a diverse student population from a wide array of KCMO neighborhoods. Border Star Montessori offers a variety of enriching extracurricular activites (including an award-winning chess club). Before- and after-school care is provided by the Local Investment Commision (LINC).
What is Montessori?
Montessori is an eductaional approach, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, that emphasizes independence, freedom within limits, and respect for each child's natural development.
