About Our School
Serving the next generation of Kansas City’s leaders.
Come home to Benjamin Banneker Elementary School! Many of our staff hail from the Kansas City area and are honored to be serving our community and our next generation of leaders. We strive to provide the best culture and environment each day for every student.
Community partnerships are very important at Banneker. Organizations support our school by providing volunteers who assist every day with programs and activities to help make school both fun and challenging to all of our students, including our successful mentoring program.
Improving Academic Success
For the 2017-2018 school year, Banneker implemented an extended school year model to help decrease knowledge lost over the summer and allow teachers an extended time to continue lessons. School begins in August and runs through the end of July with short, additional breaks in the summer months.
