Children's Mercy is partnering with Kansas City Public Schools to offer “Prepped and Ready: Parenting into the Teen Years,” a presentation designed to help parents with the transition into parenting teenagers.
We understand this transition is a time of tremendous change for teens and it can be overwhelming as a parent to know how to help. “Prepped and Ready” aims to help caregivers learn what steps you can take before a crisis develops with your teenager. The training seeks to empower parents to address the hard topics that can be very uncomfortable and considers changes each one of us can make within our own homes to make them safer.
Topics will include self-care for parents, eating disorder prevention, screen time, concerns about substance use among teens, how to ask about suicidal thoughts and how to make the home safer by storing medications and firearms safely. We hope you can join us!
