KCPS would like to extend condolences to the family of Mr. Allan Tunis, a great friend to our district and to public education. Mr. Tunis had a long career in the Park Hill School District before retiring as Vice Chancellor for Metropolitan Community Colleges. He came out of retirement in 2011 to serve as the Chief Financial Officer for KCPS, immediately earning the respect of his colleagues. Mr. Tunis was tapped to serve as interim superintendent during the 2015-16 school year, keeping KCPS on a path toward accreditation at a pivotal time. We continue to be thankful for Mr. Tunis’ dedicated service as we mourn with his family and friends.”
