'Back2School Virtual Kickoff' for Families is Sept. 3

Kansas City Public Schools is going to help students and family members get ready for the start of classes by hosting our “Back2School Virtual Kickoff” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3.
This virtual event will include essential, district-level information and updates leading into the start of the new school year. Presenters will include Superintendent Mark Bedell, Deputy Superintendent Marla Sheppard and a number of other KCPS staff members with expertise in academics and student support.
The goal of the Back2School Virtual Kickoff is to relieve any concerns that students and families have about distance or virtual learning and to help ensure that they feel fully equipped to thrive. The program will include the following topics:
- Distance and virtual learning overview, expectations and differences
- A preview of a typical day of distance and virtual learning
- Technology and resources for teaching and learning
- Student and family supports
- Family engagement
KCPS students and families can join the Back2School Virtual Kickoff via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/97389363843 or by calling 301-715-8592 (Zoom ID: 973 8936 3843). The Zoom broadcast of this event will include a Spanish-language translation option. The event can also be viewed online at www.KCPublicSchools.org/Live. It will be recorded and made available for viewing at any time on the KCPS-TV YouTube channel.
