There are four positions available with four-year terms: Sub-District 1, Sub-District 3, Sub-District 5, and At-Large. Candidates may obtain the official candidate filing packet of forms and instructions in advance from the Board Services office located in the Board of Education building, which is located at 2901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64109. Interested persons may file during the district's regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Board of Education Building.  Please note that these hours are subject to change.

Except for the first and last day of filing, filing will not occur on days that the school district's central offices are closed due to inclement weather or other health-related reasons. The district may not open even on the first and last day of filing if weather conditions make it unsafe for school staff to travel. Filing will also not occur on the following dates when the school district's central offices are closed: Dec. 22, 2020 (after 12 p.m.) through Jan. 3, 2021, and Jan. 18.

Candidates must wear masks and observe district infection control rules in force at the time of filing.

On Dec. 22, 2020, district staff will designate where candidates may form a line to file. The order of filing will determine the placement of candidates’ names on the ballot. This is in accordance with Board Policy BBB-School Board Elections and Section 115.395.2, RSMo.

Candidates filing on the last day (Jan. 19, 2021) should arrive by 4:30 p.m. to make sure the filing process is completed by the deadline. Required documents must be checked and a declaration of candidacy, including signatures, must be completed by 5 p.m. that day.
