KCPS Instrumental Music Students Receive All-District Honors

An eighth grade student dressed in black plays saxophone on a stage lit with blue light.

Gregor White, an eighth grader at Foreign Language Academy, participated in the inaugural performance of the All-District Middle School Jazz Band on Saturday, Nov. 20 at the iconic Gem Theatre. Gregor was featured in "Little Sunflower" by Freddie Hubbard and arranged by Mike Kamuf, which is a high school-level song. Director Clarence Smith thanked the students and their families for persisting with instrumental music during a year of pandemic schooling.

KCPS Instrumental Music students competed in the All-District Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra Auditions at Liberty High School and Middle School.
