KCPS to Distribute Devices on Saturday, Sept. 5 at the BOE

As a reminder, we are providing Apple iPads for students in pre-K through grade 4 and Google Chromebook laptop computers for students in grades 5 through 12. Students will use these devices for distance or virtual learning when classes start on Tuesday, Sept. 8. There have been some long lines and wait-times for families picking up these devices, and we know this can be frustrating. We are increasing our staff for device distribution and taking steps to make it a faster process for families. We appreciate your patience and grace as we distribute about 15,000 devices to our students.

The KCPS technology team will now be distributing digital devices for students from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3 and Friday, Sept. 4, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5 at the BOE building, which is located at 2901 Troost Avenue in Kansas City, MO.

A student ID number will need to be provided in order to receive a device for your child. If your student still has a device from the spring or summer, that device will need to be returned so that it can be checked-in and prepared for the new school year.

The attached guide has instructions about how to log into and use these devices for distance and virtual learning. More information is available at www.KCPublicSchools.org/Reopening-KCPS. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your school, email communications@kcpublicschools.org or call 816-418-HELP.
