This spring, Jeff Atkins, head girls basketball coach at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy Coach, was inducted into the Greater KC Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. A native of Kansas City, Coach Atkins played four years of collegiate basketball at Ottawa University before beginning his high school coaching career at his alma mater, Bishop Hogan High School. He has supported young people on and off the court at Notre Dame de Sion, St. Pius X and Penn Valley, where in his first year coaching collegiate basketball the Lady Scouts finished eighth in the nation in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Coach Atkins has been the head coach at Lincoln Prep for over a decade. He is the third winningest girls basketball coach in Missouri, with 580 wins.

“I was proud to support Jeff when we hired him as head coach at Lincoln,” said KCPS Assistant Superintendent of Equity, Inclusion and Innovation Dr. Derald Davis, whose daughter played for Coach Atkins at Lincoln Prep. “We have had zero negative incidents involving his program, and he has been the winningest basketball coach in our system with more quarterfinal and state championship appearances than any other basketball coach.”

Thank you, Coach Atkins, for showing up for our student-athletes — and congratulations!
