Kansas City, June 5, 2020: Lincoln College Preparatory Academy junior Jermaine Hamilton-Jordan is being honored with the 2020 Ronald Warren Outstanding Linebacker Award by the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association.

This annual award recognizes the best prep linebackers on either side of the state line in the Kansas City region. The award is named after a standout linebacker at Southeast High School whose life was cut-short in 1993.

"The award recognizes the linebacker in the greater Kansas City area who best exemplifies the special qualities and overall spirit of Ronald Warren," an announcement on PrepKC website reads. "He was an outstanding player who put fear in the eyes of opposing coaches. But even more important than his on-field abilities were his leadership qualities and citizenship off the field."

This is the first time a player in the Interscholastic League has won the Warren Award, according to Lincoln Prep Head Coach William Lowe. The fact that Jermaine is only a junior and still has one more season of prep football to play makes this honor even more extraordinary, he said.

Jermaine was credited with 149 total tackles and helped lead the Lincoln Prep Blue Tigers to a 12-1 record during the 2019 season, according to PrepKC. That included 18 tackles for a loss and nine sacks. He is currently committed to playing at the University of Arkansas after he graduates.
