Ms. Truax, Ms. Hester Named Terrific Teammates
Congratulations to Carmen Truax and Kimberly Hester! Ms. Truax and Ms. Hester were recognized as Terrific Teammates by Superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell and the KCPS Board of Directors on June 8, 2022.
CARMEN TRUAX
Northeast High School
Carmen Truax, the librarian at Northeast High School, was recognized as a Terrific Teammate at the June 8, 2022, KCPS Board of Directors meeting.
Ms. Truax is the Library Media Specialist at Northeast High School. She is always willing to work one-on-one with students writing research papers and has helped many students obtain their Seal of Biliteracy. She is very involved in school activities, including the Viking Pantry, and spotlights the many good things happening at Northeast in social media posts.
“If there is someone who always remembers to recognize and congratulate student achievement, it is Ms. Truax,” Ayanna Castaneda wrote in her nomination. “The students respond very well to her and they appreciate her for consistently being there for them. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending and collaborating for the Hispanic Luncheon. It was an opportunity to celebrate our Hispanic and Latinx community.”
Ms. Truax also helped host Black History Month and Asian Pacific luncheons for students and parents. Thank you for being a Terrific Teammate, Ms. Truax!
KIMBERLY HESTER
Manual Career and Technical Center
Kimberly Hester, an Instructional Coach at Manual Career and Technical Center, was recognized as a Terrific Teammate at the June 8, 2022, KCPS Board of Directors meeting.
Ms. Hester is an Instructional Coach at Manual Career and Technical Center, where she works with KCPS student-interns.
“With her as a teammate in the work, the district internship program has more than doubled,” said Ms. Crystal Everett, Manager of Career and Technical Education, who nominated Ms. Hester. “One of the projects that was birthed from the district internship program in 2021 was the idea to host a student conference, and one year later, the idea is coming to fruition under her leadership.”
The KCPS LIT (Leaders in Training) Conference will be held later this week. Good luck, Ms. Hester, and congratulations!
