Northeast High School Choir Spreads Holiday Cheer

A 5-photo panel of a high school choir singing to residents of Parkview and Clara Manor Nursing Homes.

Submitted by Scott Kinworthy, Choir Director, Northeast High School

This week, Northeast High School choir students went on a field trip to sing carols in the community. We started by singing for residents in Parkview Nursing Home. The audience sang along with us — and one resident even conducted along!

The best part was after the performance when the students introduced themselves to the residents, shook their hands and wished them happy holidays!

After that performance, we went and sang the carols for Clara Manor Nursing Home, and again, our students were amazing.  After this performance, one man came up to us and thanked us. He shared that he sang in his high school choir many years ago. He began to cry, explaining that these were some of his fondest memories. Our students took turns shaking his hand and even hugging him.

What an awesome day! I’m so proud of our students for making a difference and caring for their community!
