Families can help their children build bright futures by using a new and easier online process to apply for enrollment in one of the world-class options for the 2021-2022 academic year in Kansas City Public Schools starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 14.

KCPS is launching a new, two-step enrollment process this year. Families will first fill out a short form with basic information and their school choices. This form is located at EnrollKC.org and will take 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Once a child has been accepted for enrollment into a school in early March, the family will then spend 20 to 30 minutes completing a registration form with additional details.

The deadline to complete the first step in the enrollment application process is Monday, Feb. 15. Families can expect a response from KCPS during the week of March 1. Families will then complete the registration process for the school in which they have been selected.

Families will have the opportunity to apply for enrollment in 24 KCPS Neighborhood Schools and nine Signature Schools. Neighborhood School enrollment is based on where families reside.

Signature Schools feature unique themes and challenging programs tailored for highly motivated students with specialized interests. Each Signature School has its own enrollment standards and is free for any qualifying child that lives within the KCPS boundaries. These schools include:

  • African-Centered College Preparatory Academy Lower Campus
  • African-Centered College Preparatory Academy at Southeast High School
  • Border Star Montessori School
  • George Washington Carver Dual Language School
  • Foreign Language Academy
  • Harold Holliday, Sr. Montessori School
  • Lincoln College Preparatory Academy
  • Lincoln College Preparatory Academy Middle School
  • Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts

The KCPS Preschool Program serves children ages three and four in one of eight different locations. New this year, KCPS has partnered with Operation Breakthrough and Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center to offer additional free Pre-K seats. Kindergarten classes are available at all Neighborhood and Signature elementary schools.

Enrollment applications can be submitted online using our simplified form at EnrollKC.org. Parents who do not have internet access at home can apply using computer kiosks at the KCPS Board of Education building, which is located at 2901 Troost Ave. in Kansas City, Mo. Applications cannot be submitted at individual schools. The Office of Admissions online application kiosks will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, Tuesday, Dec. 15, Thursday, Dec. 17 and Friday, Dec. 18.

Families who use the new digital application process can receive remote technical support from KCPS by calling 816-418-7888. The Office of Admissions will be closed Dec. 21 through Jan. 1 for the regular winter break. Online applications will still be accepted during these dates, but technical support will not be available.

Visit EnrollKC.org to learn more about the school options available and how to enroll for the 2021-2022 academic year.

PLEASE NOTE: Our enrollment process only applies for families with children who are new to Kansas City Public Schools or who wish to change schools. This generally includes children who will be entering pre-K through kindergarten, sixth or seventh grades, and ninth grade. Students do not need to re-enroll into their current school.
