School starts Aug. 22! Kansas City Public Schools is fully accredited and ready to enroll your child. Enroll online or stop by the Board of Education, 2901 Troost Ave., to get help with your application from one of our enrollment specialists! We'll be here 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until the first day of school. 

From neighborhood schools to Montessori, Head Start to Evening Academy, KCPS has options for every family! 

Current KCPS families are already enrolled

This month, KCPS will be calling families as part of our address verification process. This will help KCPS ensure adequate staffing for the upcoming school year and bus transportation for our families. You can also ask any questions you have about the first day of school in August!

If your address is different than what is in Infinite Campus, you will be asked to submit one (1) document for proof of residency. Documents that will be accepted:

  • Current utility bill: electric, water or gas. (Disconnect or shutoff notices will not be accepted. Bills must be within the last 30 days)
  • Valid Property Deed
  • Current Real Estate Tax Receipt
  • Mortgage Statement/Bill
  • Signed Residential Lease Agreement
  • Personal Property Tax Receipt (Past year)
  • Homeowner’s/Rental Insurance Policy (Current year)
  • Social Services, Social Security Statement, or Other Legal/Court Documents (TANF, SNAP letter)
  • Pay stub/Pay check (within 30 days)
  • Bank statement (within 30 days)
  • Residency Affidavit (must be notarized) – if you provide a residency affidavit, the Head of Household must provide one item from the list on the affidavit AND the parent/guardian must provide one item from the list on the affidavit in their own name.

Address changes can be submitted through your school, via email ( or by bringing the proof of residency in person to the Board of Education, 2901 Troost Ave., during enrollment hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
