BLUEPRINT 2030 SCHOOL TRANSITION

Blueprint 2030 is the vision for education in Kansas City with 2025 and 2030 goals. It will serve as the update to the current KCPS Strategic Plan. Blueprint 2030 will be continuously monitored and updated after the first 5 years to ensure we are on track to achieve the vision.

TRANSITIONING STUDENTS AND FAMILIES - FRAMEWORK FOR SUCCESS
Transition Teams comprised of central office and building administrators, staff, and parents will collaborate to develop and implement transition strategies and activities based on each school community’s needs.

The goal of the teams are to ensure all impacted students, families and staff feel welcomed and encouraged to remain in the KCPS family and that the transition process is a positive experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

District-level established transition team and individual school-level transition teams
Prioritize personalized touches with families through individual parent contact opportunities and calls to discuss enrollment possibilities for the ‘23-24 school year
School tours for parents to visit other KCPS schools of interest
School enrollment events for parents to select a school for the ’23-24 school year. These events will occur during the day and evening to accommodate families’ schedules.
Open house nights at receiving schools (for new incoming students)
Ongoing communication to families about meetings, activities, processes, and timelines
School transition website, email address and telephone hotline have been established for parents and staff to submit any questions, concerns, suggestions or recommendations.
