    At Kansas City Public Schools, we know that we’re preparing students for jobs that don’t even exist yet. Starting with the 2014-2015 school year, every single KCPS student is being equipped with a laptop in order to ensure that they are fluent in technology by the time they go to college and launch their careers.

  • Hardware & Software

    • Lenovo Thinkpad X141e laptop - Engineered to be tough and functional 
    • Elementary students allowed to use their laptops during the day at school
    • Middle and high school students allowed to take laptops home
    • Pre-loaded e-textbooks and safety and security software and settings
    • Automatic, remote updates

    Responsibility & Training

    Students and parents must:
    • Sign the Student/Parent Computer Agreement 
    • Attend a Parent Computer Orientation
    • Be responsible for taking good care of their laptops
    • Cover the cost to repair or replace equipment (low-cost insurance is available)

    Laptops for Learning

    The benefits of the 1:1 Initiative include:
    • e-Textbooks available both offline and online
    • Lessons, assignments, exams and homework will all be done using laptops

    • Ability to quickly track student progress and adjust lessons to boost achievement
