Celebrate Our 2021 School Teachers of the Year

The 2021 Kansas City Public Schools Teacher of the Year Recognition Program honors the educators who structure their classrooms to increase performance and provide exceptional experiences, no matter what.

Families who applied for kindergarten, pre-K or a Signature School by the initial deadline of Monday, Feb. 15, received emails Wednesday, March 3 with offers to their first, second or third choice school.

Summerfest Drive Thru Edition

What is Summerfest?

The Kansas City Public Schools Education Foundation is partnering with public health providers to ensure that our students are ready to engage in learning when classes start on Sept. 8. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we’re going to stay safe by hosting “Summerfest: Drive Thru Edition!” By pre-registering for this event, KCPS students will be able to get a backpack with school supplies free of charge. Immunizations, lead testing and other student health services will also be available on-site.

Details about Summerfest

  • Summerfest: Drive-Thru Edition is for families with KCPS students only
  • Families must pre-register to participate (pre-registration will be available soon)
  • PPEs will be used and social-distancing guidelines followed by everyone who participates
  • A backpack with school supplies free-of-charge for every KCPS student
  • Immunizations, lead testing and other student health services will also be provided on-site
  • There are a limited number of timeslots available for the student health services and they will be reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis
