It’s the last day for seniors across KCPS.  Yesterday, seniors came to KCVA to complete their checkout process with us while today they’re going to their home school (neighborhood or signature school) and finalizing checkout with that school as well.  Since it is the last day, KCVA/EA wanted to take the time to recognize one of our seniors who has made some big strides in his 5 years with us.  Senior Keshawn Luster has been named Salutatorian for the Class of 2026 at Southeast High School!

We asked Keshawn some questions about his time in high school and here’s what he had to say:

1.) What song or trend will remind you of your time in high school?

Your Teeth in My Neck by Kali Uchis. I love the lyrics "I've been working so hard just to give you more gotta get it right,”

2.) What are you most looking forward to after graduation?

I look forward to leaning towards God even more.  Without him I would never have made it this far.  Being a leader, supporter and lover I want to thank God, my family, and those including the very special person who is close to my heart as well,  for supporting me all these years it means a lot.”

3.) Will you be attending college or a trade school?  If so, where?

“I plan to attend college but not right after high school. I want mentally to prepare myself for that very moment when I go into college. I look forward to achieving my dreams and goals.”

4.) What is one piece of advice you would give to underclassmen about going through high school?

When you have faith knowing that God is right there with you, everything becomes possible to complete no matter what.  Having a job or career that is in the works makes it so much easier to maintain the balance of having him first.  Someday if you do decide to go on tour like how I did make sure you go all out and give it your best. Never give up and be compassionate and be the light for those who can't see and be a leader also be yourself always you don't need validation just to prove who you are. “

Congratulations Keshawn!  We are proud of you and your  accomplishments.
