Frequently Asked Questions

Student Transportation & Rehearsal

Q: Is transportation provided for rehearsal?
A: Yes. All students are required to take the bus to and from rehearsal. No personal transportation is allowed.

Q: How will students get to the graduation ceremony?
A: All students are required to ride the bus from their school to the T-Mobile Center for commencement. Students are not required to ride the bus back to the school following commencement. Students who need a ride back to school following commencement may take the bus. No personal drop-offs at home are permitted. 

Q: Can students leave items on the bus during the ceremony?
A:No.
Students may not leave any items on the bus during commencement.


Family Tickets & Seating

Q: How many tickets does each graduate receive?
A: Each graduate will receive 15 tickets for family and guests. Students who need extra tickets should contact the Senior Sponsor.

Q: If I do not need all 15 tickets, can I provide them to others in need?
A:  If students have unused tickets, they should return them to the Senior Sponsor.

Q: Does every guest need a ticket?
A: Yes. A ticket is required for anyone occupying a seat. Children who will remain on an adult’s lap for the ceremony do not require a ticket.

Q: Where can families sit during the ceremony?
A:
Families may sit in Sections 104–107 and Sections 116–119 at the T-Mobile Center.

Q: Is there an option for Will Call?
A: Yes. A Will Call table will be set up OUTSIDE the T‑Mobile Center.

  • All families with tickets held at Will Call must report to this table.

  • The Will Call table will be located at the Grand Street Entrance only.

  • Will Call tickets will NOT be accepted within 30 minutes of the start of the ceremony.


Graduation Day Logistics

Q: When will students receive their graduation items?
A: At graduation rehearsal, students will receive:

  • Cap and Gown

  • Tickets

  • Honor Cords (if earned)

  • Grip Check / Gift Card (if earned)

Q: When do the doors open for families at T-Mobile Center?
A: Doors will open 1 hour prior to the start of the ceremony.

Q: Where should families pick up students after the ceremony?
A: Graduates will gather for pickup on 14th and Grand by the Fountain.

Q: Where can families watch the graduation ceremony online?
A: The link for the website which will feature the livestream for graduation is:  https://www.kcpublicschools.org/page/board-meeting-livestream

Families can also access the Live by going to Google search & type in KCPS Live.  It will pull up on the search results & take them right to the web page.


T-Mobile Center Guidelines

Q: What items are prohibited inside T-Mobile Center?
A: The following items are NOT allowed:

  • No Artificial Noisemakers

  • No Signage that blocks the view of other guests

  • No Balloons

  • No Backpacks

  • No Pocket knives, mace, laser pointers, or  weapons (including concealed carry)

  • No Outside food or drinks

  • No Coolers

  • No Tablets larger than 7 inches

  • No Lighters, Vapes, or E Cigarettes 

  • No Drugs or Drug Paraphernalia

  • No Alcohol 

Q: Will there be a security check?
A: Yes. All guests will go through metal detectors and have their bags checked upon entry. Backpacks are not allowed. 


Accessibility & Parking at T-Mobile Center

Q: Is the venue ADA accessible?
A: Yes. T-Mobile Center provides full accommodations for guests with disabilities, including accessible restrooms, seating, entrances, and drop-off areas.

Q: What are the parking options near T-Mobile Center?
A:

  • Magenta Lot (On-site, limited): Advance purchase available, first come first serve. 

  • Red Lot Garage: 1120 Oak St., one block north

  • Yellow Lot Garage: 151 E 13th St. (across from venue)

  • Drop-Offs: Use Oak Street for ride shares and ADA access. 

  • Grand Blvd will be closed to traffic.


Graduation Photography 

Summit Studio is honored to be the official photographer for this year’s KCPS graduation ceremony.

During the ceremony, our photography team will capture two special photo opportunities for every graduate: An on-stage photo and an off-stage portrait.

Additionally, KCPS will be providing each graduate with 1 8x10 print of the On-Stage Photo.
