Public education advocates gather in the rotunda of the State Capitol.

Families and staff from public schools across Missouri packed the halls and rotunda of the State Capitol at Jefferson City earlier this week, impressing upon lawmakers the importance of policies that impact public schools, their staffs, and their families.

Many KCPS students and families were among those at the event and spoke eloquently and passionately with lawmakers and area media. Our delegation was recognized on the House floor, and the day ended with a powerful rally in support of public education.

"I think that the number here today and the work that we've done shows the strength of public schools and the community and how powerful we can be," said Lincoln Prep student Cairos Im.

Our group was highlighted in various news outlets, including the local Fox affiliate & the local ABC affiliate.
