Kansas City, Mo.— Whether students dream of attending college, earning an industry credential, enrolling in a trade program, joining the workforce, or pursuing another path, Kansas City Public Schools is committed to helping them take the next step with confidence.

To help students explore their interests, discover opportunities, and prepare for what's next, the Department of Postsecondary Access and Student Success (PASS) is launching Xello Family, a new online platform that gives students and families tools to plan for college, trade school, careers, and beyond.

Through Xello Family, students can identify their strengths and interests, explore careers and educational pathways, set goals, and create personalized plans for the future. Family members can log in alongside their students to view progress, learn about available opportunities, and participate in important conversations about postsecondary planning.

Available in more than 130 languages and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, Xello Family helps make future planning more accessible for families across the district.

Families will receive an email from Xello with instructions for activating their Xello Family account. Once activated, they can begin exploring alongside their students and supporting their journey toward college, career, and lifelong success.

Free support to all students

The launch reflects the broader mission of the PASS Department, which provides free, comprehensive guidance, language, and educational support services that empower KCPS students, families, and adult learners to succeed.

Through college access programming, Language Services/ESL support, and adult education opportunities, PASS helps learners build the skills, confidence, and connections needed for successful transitions to higher education, meaningful careers, and lifelong learning.

As students begin using Xello to explore future possibilities, PASS also offers hands-on support to help families navigate important postsecondary milestones. One of the most significant is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which opens the door to many forms of financial aid for college and career training programs.

Throughout the school year, PASS partners with community organizations to host FAFSA completion events and workshops designed to make the process easier for students and families.

Among those opportunities is FAFSA Frenzy, scheduled for Nov. 14 at East High School. The event will provide free FAFSA assistance, multilingual translation support, a children's corner, and additional resources to help families complete the application before the state's priority deadline. Families are encouraged to bring income information, tax documents, StudentAid.gov login credentials, and a charged laptop.

Together, resources like Xello Family and FAFSA support events help students move from imagining their futures to actively preparing for them.
