Do you know which materials you can and cannot recycle? Carver's first graders do!

As part of their Summer Academy recycling project, students learned to identify and sort contaminants and non-contaminants. They used their critical thinking and discussion skills to make their decisions, then put their creativity to the test by using recycled materials to make art projects.

Congratulations to Ms. Madison Hill, a Central Middle School student honored with the Kansas City Fire Department's Civilian Heroism Award! Last September, Madison witnessed a serious crash involving an SUV and a school bus. Without hesitation, she ran on board comfort the children, some of whom were injured. In the process, Madison sustained an injury of her own, showing a remarkable level of courage, compassion, and willingness to put others' needs ahead of her own safety.
